Zeplin

Overview & What is Zeplin?

The Zeplin free plan provides an essential bridge between designers and developers, streamlining the often-complex design handoff process. Zeplin is a collaboration platform that transforms designs from tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and Photoshop into organized, developer-friendly resources. It automatically generates specifications, assets, and code snippets, ensuring developers have everything they need to implement designs accurately. This eliminates guesswork, reduces communication overhead, and helps maintain design consistency across projects.

Free Tier Capabilities & Key Features

With the Zeplin free plan, users can experience the core benefits of seamless design-to-development workflow. This tier allows for 1 active project, where you can upload designs, generate detailed specifications, extract assets, and create styleguides. It's perfect for individual designers or small teams working on a single project who need to ensure precise implementation. The free plan offers a robust environment to share designs, gather feedback, and ensure developers have access to all necessary design elements, fostering efficient collaboration from concept to code.

• Single Project Support: Manage one active project for design handoff.
• Automated Specs: Get accurate measurements, colors, and typography details.
• Asset Export: Easily export design assets in various formats.
• Styleguides: Create and maintain consistent design systems.
• Developer Collaboration: Invite developers to inspect designs and leave comments.

Quotas, Limits & Constraints

The primary limitation of the Zeplin free plan is its restriction to 1 active project. This means that while you can fully utilize Zeplin's powerful handoff features for that single project, you cannot simultaneously manage multiple projects without upgrading. For agencies, larger teams, or individuals with a high volume of concurrent projects, a paid subscription would be necessary to unlock unlimited project capacity and potentially more advanced features like version control or deeper integrations. The free plan is an excellent starting point for understanding the value Zeplin brings to the design-development workflow.

Who Should Use Zeplin & Best Use Cases

The Zeplin free plan is particularly well-suited for individual freelance designers, small development teams, or students who are focused on a single project at a time. It's an invaluable tool for:

• Freelance UI/UX Designers: To deliver professional design specifications to clients.
• Front-End Developers: To easily access design details, assets, and code snippets.
• Small Product Teams: To ensure design consistency and efficient implementation for a new feature or MVP.
• Design Students: To learn best practices in design handoff and collaboration.

It empowers users to bridge the gap between design and development, ensuring that creative visions are translated into pixel-perfect digital products efficiently.
